Passthrough supports Two-factor authentication (2FA). 2FA can optionally be enabled by the user (instructions below) or can be required by default by a fund.

In order to enable two-factor authentication, go to the top-right corner of the webpage, click your profile, and then select **account settings.**

Once in the account settings window, select **Enable 2FA**.

You will be prompted to create a password for your account. Please be sure to save your password somewhere safe for reference.

Once a password has been created, you will then select your preferred verification method. Your second verification method can be SMS (you are sent a text to a phone number you supply with a verification code) or an Authenticator app.

If you select the Authenticator app method, you can use any of the following apps: [Google Authenticator](https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/1066447), [Microsoft Authenticator](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security/mobile-authenticator-app), or [Twilio Authy](https://www.authy.com/). You can either scan the QR code or manually enter (both options are shown below):

If you choose the text message method, enter your cell phone number to receive your verification code by SMS. Once you enter the verification code that was sent via text message, you will see the screen below informing you that Two-factor is now enabled for your Passthrough account, and it will prompt you to **Sign in again with 2FA**.

## **Disabling Two-factor authentication**

To remove 2FA go to the top-right corner of the webpage, click your profile, and then select **Account settings**.

Click **Disable 2FA** to proceed.

Then a code will be sent to your phone. Once you enter this code and select **Verify and disable 2FA,** your settings will then be updated.
